(March 20, 2005) — As of today, a digital X no longer marks the spot at Xerox Square.

On Saturday, workers took down the big red X that stood for more than five years in front of Xerox Corp.'s tower at 100 S. Clinton Ave. and replaced it with a new logo.

Last year, the company announced it was getting rid of the "Digital X" logo and "The Document Company" tagline it had used for a decade.

A new logo with the company's full name, and the tagline of "Technology/Document Management/Consulting Services" wereas unveiled in September.

Xerox said the new tagline and logo better reflect the company's capabilities.

Tthe 13-foot- high X was installed in 1999.

A company spokesman said the digital X at the top of the building also will be replaced at some point in the future.
